Joshua Jenkins
Biography
A young man of faith and courage, who is submitted to God just as his biblical counterpart was. He employs the medium of theater, film, and preaching with cutting-edge deliverance ministry as its foundation to make relevant to a generation declared out of reach due to the tactics, schemes, and strategies that the enemy uses in his quest to get them to abort their destinies. Joshua is the eldest son of the First Baptist Church of Glenarden’s senior pastor, John K. Jenkins Sr., and Lady Trina Jenkins. He is husband to his wife Danielle, and father to sons Jett, Jace, and Jude. He is a graduate of Bowie State University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication with a concentration in Broadcast Journalism and a Minor in Theater.
He was licensed and ordained as a minister at the First Baptist Church of Glenarden where he also serves as the Young Adult Pastor as well as the Stage & Screen Ministry Director. He is currently enrolled in Wheaton College School of Theology pursuing a Master of Ministry and Leadership.
Joshua has also been making his wave as a playwright, filmmaker, and director. He has co-written, co-directed, produced, and gained monumental success from the hit stage play entitled ”Black Boy Blues” in 2016. Joshua and his brother Jimmy Jenkins filmed their first budgeted feature film entitled, ”Sinners Wanted” starring celebrity actors Lamman Rucker, Clifton Powell, and many other notable actors which debuted in theaters in Spring 2019 and on the TVOne Network in 2020 and is currently available on streaming platforms such as BET Plus, Tubi, Amazon Prime and many more. Joshua is also the co-writer, co-director, and co-producer alongside the stellar award-winning and Grammy-nominated gospel recording artist Anthony Brown of the DMV hit Christmas production “Someway, Somehow,” formerly known as the “Uncut Coming of Christ,” which has been viewed by thousands over the past 15 years. Joshua is the co-owner of “Uncut Musical, LLC” with Anthony Brown. Joshua is also the founder and owner of two different companies.
He is also the founder and President of Push’N Pedals Cycling Club, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Joshua was also an associate producer of the Showtime special basketball documentary “Basketball County In the Water” which was directed by his brother Jimmy and executive produced by Kevin Durant.
He has worked with and directed many icons in the gospel and film realm such as Anthony Brown, Kim Burrell, Isaac Carree, Anaysha Figueroa-Cooper, Sheri Jones-Moffett, The Walls Group, Y’anna Crawley, Tasha Cobbs-Leonard, Lamman Rucker, Clifton Powell, Traci Braxton, Roland Martin, and many other notable artists and actors. Additionally, his work has also been featured on the Gospel music Stellar Awards, and across the country.
He is a motivational speaker, teacher, and preacher as he has impacted audiences of church congregations, social groups, high school commencement ceremonies, youth groups, as well as young adult groups and ministries across the Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area and nation.
